Federal International acquires All-American Recycling

Federal International, a St. Louis-headquartered recycling company that services industrial, commercial and institutional customers, has acquired All-American Recycling, headquartered in Columbus, Georgia. With the purchase, Federal International now operates seven processing plants and two sales offices throughout North America.

Blair Brown, the former vice president of All-American, remains with Federal International and heads the new business unit.

Federal International President John Daniel says, “We are always looking for good companies at fair prices. And, culturally, [All-American Recycling] is a great fit.”

While All-American handles a significant amount of recovered fiber, Daniel says the company also manages and processes nonferrous scrap, which supports Federal International’s strategy to grow the metals recycling segment of its business. Daniel says the company has plans to purchase an excavator and a shear to allow it to process more scrap metal at the Columbus site.

Additionally, Federal International is growing its wooden pallet recycling business, he says, adding, “We want to provide full waste and recycling services to our customers.”

Daniel says Federal International, though based in St. Louis with additional locations in Missouri, doesn’t consider itself a regional company. “We have never identified ourselves with a geographical region,” he says.

In addition to its St. Louis and Columbus facilities, Federal International has locations in Jefferson City and Cape Girardeau, Missouri; Minneapolis; Dallas, Houston, San Antonio and El Paso, Texas; and Denver.

The company serves clients in the manufacturing, printing, warehousing and distribution, grocery, multifamily housing and education sectors, providing equipment sales and service in addition to scrap management and commodity brokerage services.
